Job Description
The Infection Prevention (IP) Control Nurse is responsible for:
- Surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections (HAI).
- Monitoring reportable conditions and educating staff on infection prevention.
- Developing policies and procedures to meet regulatory standards (CDC, OSHA, CMS, etc.).
- Timely reporting of infection prevention measures and outcomes.
- Providing education to all areas of SEARHC and assisting in planning a comprehensive infection control program.
Key Responsibilities
- Infection Prevention and Control Program: Develop, implement, and maintain the IPC plan aligned with regulatory agencies.
- Data/Reporting: Collect, trend, and maintain infection control data and statistical reports.
- Education/Training: Facilitate IPC education and training for staff, patients, and communities.
- Leadership: Serve as a role model for IPC, participate in committees, and maintain positive teamwork.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Current full, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or another U.S. state.
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field (Master's preferred).
- Certifications:
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required within 6 months of hire.
- BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years in acute care/infection control or related fields.
- Long-Term Care IPC experience is a plus.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of epidemiology and infectious disease.
- Proficient in data analysis and statistics.
- Strong communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work in a team and manage programs effectively.
