Position Requirements
- Active State Specific Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- NIH Stroke Scale
- TNCC
- Minimum of two years of paid experience as an RN in a similar setting
Job Responsibilities
- Triage and assess patients presenting with a wide range of urgent and emergent conditions using established triage protocols.
- Provide prompt, evidence-based interventions for patients with acute illnesses, injuries, and minor trauma.
- Stabilize patients in preparation for transfer to higher-level trauma centers when necessary.
- Administer medications, start IVs, perform wound care, and manage splints or orthopedic devices.
- Monitor vital signs and respond to changes in patient status with timely interventions.
- Assist with minor procedures such as suturing, abscess drainage, and fracture care under physician direction.
- Collaborate with EMS personnel and provide handoff communication during patient arrivals.
- Document patient care accurately and promptly in the electronic health record.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, medications, and follow-up care.
- Maintain readiness for unexpected critical cases and ensure ED supplies and equipment are fully stocked.
