Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day – 5 × 8‑hour (09:00–17:30)
Unit: Electrophysiology Lab (MHC Electrophysiology Lab 10385)
Job Overview
This position supports electrophysiology procedures by circulating and scrubbing during EP cases—particularly ablations and device implants (e.g., leadless pacemakers). While monitoring duties are not required, the role includes late-case rotations and potential floating to Cath Holding or other areas during high census or pandemic coverage.
Minimum Requirements
Experience:
- ≥2 years of EP Lab, Cath Lab, or similar procedural nursing experience
- First-time travelers accepted if experienced
Licensure & Certifications:
- Active RN license (state or compact) at submission
- BLS and ACLS (AHA only) required
- CCI, RCIS certification strongly preferred
Residency:
- Candidates must reside ≥50 miles from the hospital
Core Responsibilities & Clinical Skills
Procedural Support:
- Scrub and circulate during EP procedures—radiofrequency ablations, pacemaker/defibrillator implants, leadless devices
- Administer and monitor conscious sedation and IV medications during procedures
- Maintain sterile field and prepare instrument setup
- Monitor patients during late-case rotations, staying past 17:30 as needed
Equipment & Safety:
- Competent with EP lab equipment: mapping systems, ablation devices, sheath and catheter support
- Ensure EKG pass/fail test is completed per facility requirement
- Adhere to radiation safety, infection control, and universal time-out protocols
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
- Work alongside electrophysiologists, techs, radiology, Cath holding staff
- Float to support immediate procedural areas if need arises
- Assist with education of new staff and compliance training
Unit Details
- Staffing Ratios: 1:1 during procedures
- Call: No formal on-call (zero-tolerance for tardiness)
- Weekend Coverage: No weekend requirement
- Float: Required (e.g., Cath Holding Room, other procedural areas in pandemic)
- Cross-Training: May support Cath Holding and assist with sheath removal
Strong in EP procedures, especially ablations and device implants
Detail-oriented with strong instrument prep and sterile-field maintenance
Comfortable with sedation administration and acute procedural support
