Provider Support: Interpretation Services, Pharmacy, Phlebotomy, Physical Therapy, Tadiology, Rapid Response Team, Respiratory Services, Social Servixes, Transportation, Unit Secretary (no HUC at night)
Provider Coverage: CRNA, Hospitalist - Family Practice/Medical, Anesthesiologist, CNM, MD, Fellow
Patient Diagnosis: c/ sections- scrub and circulate, vaginal deliveries, operative vaginal births , stabilize neonates, Post partum care, Newborn care, Antepartum, intrapartum, post delivery D&C, fetal monitor, fse, iupc, Ram Cannula
Special Procedures/Unit Details: We have a special care nursery - stabilize and transfer out. Mag drips will be started and then patient will be transferred to Toledo. We follow awhonn staffing guidelines: 1:1 for Laboring patients, 1:3 couplet, 1:3 MB, Triage, Special care nursery
Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, MI license
Work Settings Required: Antepartum, Community Level experience, Facility births/month 200-300, Facility births/month >300, Level I Nursery, LDRP, Mother/Baby
Antepartum Care and Procedures Required: NST, Reflex checks / edema assessment / clonus, Sterile vaginal exam, Triage of obstetrical patients, Use of EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring)
Care of Patient Required: Diabetes mellitus, HELLP Syndrome, Malpresentations (breech / face / brow), Multiple Gestation, Placenta Previa/Abruptio, Pre-eclampsia / eclampsia, Premature Rupture of Membranes, Preterm labor, Substance Abuse, Uterine rupture, VBAC management / trial of labor
Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency Care Required: Adult cardiac arrest, Infant / neonatal arrest, Use of Rapid Response team, Telemetry Interpretation
Fetal Monitoring Required: Use of External Fetal Monitoring, Recognition and Treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
IV Therapy/Phlebotomy Required: Administration of blood & blood products, Start & maintain peripheral IV, Use of infusion pumps / drips / IV monitoring
Medication and Administration Required: Antihypertensives, Magnesium Sulfate therapy, Pitocin (oxytocin), Prostaglandins, Terbutaline
Labor and Delivery Management Required: Amnioinfusion, Assist with high risk delivery, Assist with vaginal delivery, Circulate for C-section, Hemorrhage/shock, Recover C-Section, Sterile vaginal exam
Neonatal Care in Delivery Room Required: APGAR scores, Baby Nurse (Baby Catcher), ID/Security Banding, Neonatal Resuscitation, Radiant Warmers/Thermoregulation
Newborn Care Required: Assist with Circumcision/Assess site post-op, Car Seat Education, Cord Care, Discharge teaching to parents, Infant Identification, Metabolic Screen, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, Newborn Assessment, Newborn hypoglycemia, Phototherapy, Teach Circumcision care to parents, Thermoregulation
Pain Management Required: Epidural Anesthesia, General Anesthesia, Opioids, Pain assessment & management
Postpartum Care and Procedures Required: Breastfeeding Support/lactation support, Episiotomy/Incisional Care, Foley Catheter insertion, Fundus/lochia/perineum care, Use of Electric/Manual breast pump, Wound Assessment and Care
Postpartum Care of Patient Required: Vaginal Delivery, Cesarean Section, Bladder Distension, Couplet Care, Multiple Births, Postpartum Hemorrhage, Pregnancy induced hypertension
Professional Topic and Skills Required: Isolation Precautions/PPE, Vaccine Administration
Surgical Case/Procedures Required: Cervical Cerclage, D & C, Tubal Ligation
