Notre Dame of Maryland University seeks a dynamic, motivated specialist in career, professional and personal development to be the next Director of the Career Center. The Director of the Career Center is responsible for providing leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of services/programs designed to enhance student career development and preparedness. The director will have the opportunity to define the vision and work of the center in accordance with the university’s mission to educate leaders to change the world while valuing social responsibility. The successful candidate will be student-centered and committed to developing relationships that support students in discerning and achieving their professional goals. The director will collaborate with academic affairs, alumnae relations, student life, enrollment management as well as constituencies outside the university to create and implement programs/services designed to enhance student success.
Key responsibilities of the position include:
- encouraging students in plans for personal and professional development defining and assessing learning outcomes for center programs and services networking with potential employers and professional associations to provide career development opportunities, including internships, for Notre Dame students in a variety of academic programs providing leadership in coordinating virtual and face to face employer visits and regularly scheduled career/internship fairs
- developing and implementing a data collection and reporting system to track student outcomes and satisfaction as well as progress toward strategic goals
- collaborating with the First Year Experience program to develop and implement effective career advising strategies for incoming students providing individual career advising sessions for students and alums

Qualifications
Knowledge: Master’s degree in higher education, educational administration, organizational development, leadership or a related area.
Experience: Three to five years in higher education with progressive levels of responsibility. Candidates should have experience in fostering students’ professional and personal development, working with diverse student populations, advising students, and student advocacy. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate success in establishing partnerships with academic departments and external partners as well as planning and evaluating career support programs.
Skills/Aptitude: The ideal candidate is energetic, creative, and entrepreneurial. The director must have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty. Excellent communication and organizational skills are a necessity. The director will take initiative in planning and problem solving and must have proficiency with data collection and analysis. Ability to manage multiple priorities, including budgets and scheduling, is a requirement. The director should also exhibit a strong service orientation and an understanding of and commitment to liberal arts education rooted in the Catholic tradition of the charism of the School Sisters of Notre Dame.
